New paradigms of cooperation in the Euroregion “Upper Prut”

The director of the AGENTS OF CHANGES of the Precarpathian University, Associate Professor of the Finance Department, Svitlana Kropelnytska, participated as a speaker in the online meeting of the round table NEW EUROPEAN PARADIGMS OF COOPERATION AND POTENTIAL OF THE EUROREGIONUPPER PRUT.

The event was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishing the EuroregionUpper Prut and joined the participants of three countries – Romania, Moldova and Ukraine in order to strengthen border cooperation.

The participants discussed current challenges and necessity to implement the new architectonics of the Euroregion “Upper Prut” in the context of European tendencies of the post-crisis development. The attention was also paid to economic and infrastructure models of the tripartite Euroregional cooperation. They analyzed the potential of cross-border cooperation of communities and institutions of civil society on the territory of the Euroregion “Upper Prut”.

Svitlana Kropelnytska emphasized, in particular, that project and cluster approaches in their interaction and interconnection should become one of the main tools of developing Euroregional cooperation. This idea was supported by the key speakers of the round table.

Let us recall that the EuroregionUpper Prut was established September 22, 2000 in the city of Botoșani (Romania). For 20 years, it has united the border regions of Romania, Moldova and Ukraine for the sake of close economic cooperation, joint solution of infrastructure problems, etc.

Starting from October 15, 2003, the EuroregionUpper Prut includes Chernivetska and Ivano-Frankivska Oblasts on the part of Ukraine, Botoșani and Suceava Counties on the part of Romania, Fălești, Edineţ, Glodeni, Ocniţa, Rîşcani, Briceni districts on the part of Moldova. The European Associated partner of the Euroregion “Upper Prut” is the Federal State of Carinthia (Austria).

The main directions of the Euroregion “Upper Prut” include:

  1. Development and harmonization of trade and economic relations.
  2. Development of projects of cross-border cooperation.
  3. Development and introduction of advanced technology.
  4. Ecological safety, preventing contamination of the basins of the Danube, the Prut, the Siret, the Dniester and the Black Sea, prevention and elimination of consequences of industrial and natural disasters, increasing the number of environmentally friendly
  5. Harmonization of infrastructure development, including energy systems, transport and communication networks.
  6. Development of cross-border relations and expansion of cooperation in the sphere of regulatory services, science, education, culture, sport and
  7. Providing and introducing in all spheres of economic, social, political and cultural life the full and true equality between people belonging to a national minority and people belonging to the majority of population.
  8. Health protection, development of tourism and recreational activities.
