February 4, the office of the Project and Educational Centre AGENTS OF CHANGES at the Precarpathian University held the round table for experts on the regional and local economic development of Ivano-Frankivsk region “The 2027 Development Strategy”. The event was organized by the REGIONET network and the AGENTS OF CHANGES in cooperation with the international technical support project “Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance” (PLEDDG).

The participants of the round table included the team of the AGENTS OF CHANGES of the Precarpathian University headed by Svitlana Kropelnytska, the director of the Project and Educational Centre AGENTS OF CHANGES, coordinator of the Regional expert network REGIONET in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Oleksandr Dudka, the coordinator of the REGIONET network in Ukraine, Yuriy Stefanchuk, the executive director of Ivano-Frankivsk regional branch of the Association of Cities of Ukraine, Viktor Vintoniak, the director of the Agency of Regional Development in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Vasyl Melnychuk, the head of the Standing Committee of Oblast Council on regional policy, decentralization and local government development, representatives of the Department of Economic Development, the Department of Economic and Integration Development of Ivano-Frankivsk City Executive Committee, representatives of Oblast ATC, specialists, scientists, experts in regional and local development. The interested party could participate in the discussion online accessing the teletransmitting via Webex Cisco.

“The question concerning the strategy of the regional development is an important issue nowadays. It is urgent now in the new programming period of the strategic planning of development, which is taking place at the state and regional levels, at the level of territorial communities. It is very important to communicate all together, i.e. scientists, experts, and specialists, in order to carry out new projects aimed at improving people’s well-being,” – stated Svitlana Kropelnytska, the director of the AGENTS OF CHANGES, during the opening of the event.

Igor Tsependa, the Rector of the University, online delivered welcoming remarks to the round table participants: “We worked out a good mechanism of cooperation of the University with the local government by establishing the office AGENTS OF CHANGES.”

Oleksandr Dudka, the event moderator, coordinator of the All-Ukrainian network of specialists and experts on regional and local development REGIONET, informed the round table participants about the possibilities of the REGIONET as an information and communication platform of regional development and mentioned the proactivity of the Project and Educational Centre “Agents of Changes” at the Precarpathian University in the development of innovations and investments in the region.

During the round table, Maryana Hurhula, the head of the office of economic development of the Department of Economic Development, Industry and Infrastructure at Ivano-Frankivsk OSA, presented the project strategy of development of Ivano-Frankivsk region in 2020-2027. The main strategic directions of development are competitive economy on the principles of smart-specialization, development of oblast infrastructure and creation of comfortable and safe living conditions on the oblast territory.

According to Yuriy Stefanchuk, the executive director of Ivano-Frankivsk regional branch of the Association of Cities of Ukraine, as for the regional development strategy, it is necessary to detail those directions which are already urgent in our oblast.

Vasyl Melnychuk, the head of the Standing Committee on regional policy, decentralization and local government development at Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Council, emphasized the topicality and timeliness of the round table of experts on local economic development, stated the importance of including the issues of the development of rural territories in the Strategy and considering the principles of smart-specialization.

Nadiya Kromkach, the head of the Department of Economic and Integration Development of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, presented the most urgent projects of Ivano-Frankivsk experts and announced the beginning of actualization, draft of the Development Strategy of Ivano-Frankivsk ATC.

Important and informative about so-called issues of our region’s strategic development were the presentations on the smart-specialization of the region and the launch of the SmartCity project of Ivano-Frankivsk, key courses of action of the Agency of the regional development and its role in the oblast strategic development, particularly, through the development of industrial and innovative parks, cluster of creative industries, promotion of tourism, etc.

To complete, the scientists of the University, experts of the Agents of Changes emphasized the importance of higher education establishments developing human resources to improve the competitiveness of the region and presented the database of the Precarpathian National University’s students, who grew up in the oblast ATC, and the main results of cooperation, including projects, with the territorial communities of the oblast due to current possibilities.

Round tables and other topical events conducted by the AGENTS OF CHANGES in cooperation with a wide circle of experts have become traditional and prove their expediency and necessity in order to broaden cooperation with institutions of regional and local development, programs, projects, experts to provide the region’s effective strategic development.
