In order to improve their own competences in current trends of social projecting and exchange best practices, the experts of the Project and Educational CentreAgents of Changesof Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University participated in the webinar “Role of municipalities in creating an ecosystem for the development of social entrepreneurship” under the project Partnership for Local Economic Development and Democratic Governance” (PLEDDG Project).

The speaker of the online event was Raphael Costa, the head of the business center in the city of Vaughan (Ontario County), Canada. He shared his Canadian experience of municipalities interacting with representatives of social business.

At the meeting, there were discussed the key measures to be taken by municipalities in order to develop social entrepreneurship in the region. In particular, Raphael Costa determined 8 directions in the development of social entrepreneurship in the country:

  • culture of social entrepreneurship;
  • institutional support;
  • legislation and regulation;
  • access to finance;
  • access to markets;
  • business skills and support of business development;
  • management,
  • measurement,
  • impact report;
  • business support during the COVID-19.

The webinar participants could also express their own ideas concerning the development of social entrepreneurship in these directions on the MIRO platform.

To conclude the online event, the moderator Nataliya Rogulina shared the example of the successful Program of social entrepreneurship development implemented in the Strategy of development of Vinnytsia City ATC.
